Alex Leadbeater
Since moving to St Leonards in 2002, my work has mostly been inspired by the local beach from the distant horizon to the nearest frothy wave. I paint in acrylic on paper, canvas or wood and enjoy making big images of energetic waves or tiny prints of the turning tide.
I continue to paint life-size domestic objects such as enamel jugs, architectural details, plants and birds.
My paintings incorporate printmaking techniques and I also work in collagraph, screenprint and etching to make limited editions prints.
My studio The Muse is just behind Hastings Arts Forum and I take part in Coastal Currents Open Studios and South East Open Studios as well as being open to visitors by appointment.
I run various classes and workshops in my studio, including Art with a Tea, a friendly drop in mixed media class on Monday afternoons 2 - 4pm £5
