Applications welcome for this curated exhibition, open to all HAF members.
The surface of any artwork can be an integral part of the painting or object.
It may be a vital component of the image, or could intentionally play a secondary role to the image.
In all cases, the 'surface matters'.
This subject may be treated in its widest interpretation.
We welcome 2D, 3D and photographic entries.
Stains and Traces returns to the Arts Forum on the 15th February for a three week exhibition. The regular appearance of this exhibition in the HAF calendar is held in memory of Ian Welsh, a former Chair and champion of the Arts Forum who sadly died a few years ago, but he has left us this powerful and encompassing exhibition theme as his legacy.
Under the invited co-curatorship of Carly Ralph and Mary Morris, we look forward to a new direction for this exhibition. Alongside their own work, their selected artists Denise Jones, Annabel Faraday and Debbie Lyddon, have been given free rein to interpret the Stains and Traces theme, and each of these five artists have examined in personal and different ways the presence, absence and residues of human existence.
Those who visit the exhibition will be richly rewarded.
