ARTIST STATEMENT – PAUL CASTLE

 I suffer with a bi-polar disorder. I have felt the need to make this statement in the hope that the viewer can see more deeply into how I function as an artist.

 My work portrays my deeply felt feelings and emotions. From these senses and understanding the dramatic power of the mark, I am able to create a spontaneous image that has tremendous movement and direction. These gestures, I would like to feel, make an impact resulting in an honest body of work. 

The majority of my work is untitled. The reason for this is that it is important to me that viewers decide on their own interpretation of my work – therefore feeling their own personal sensations.
