Artists’ statements:

Elaine Short – tapestry weaver. After previous experience with painting and hand-made jewellery, Elaine turned to weaving and taught herself traditional hand-loom techniques, producing woven wall-hangings and rugs. She has found that this medium offers virtually unlimited creative possibilities, combining colour, form, texture and three-dimensional effects.

Robin Muckle - After spending my working life in the field of IT, I retired early and decided to pursue my fascination with art.

My interest is predominantly in three-dimensional work, experimenting with different media – mainly clay, plaster and sometimes stone.

The work is mainly figurative, often attempting to blend realism with expression. Inspiration comes from nature and the human form, as well as past and contemporary artists.

I enjoy the contrast between moulding and carving and the process through to the final finish which may be ‘raw’, one of a variety of cold or patinated finishes, or glazed using one of the many different techniques such as raku.
