If buildings could talk, then the new Jerwood Gallery would be a softly-spoken member of the intelligentsia, writes Cathryn Kemp. So seductive is the quiet presence of the new structure which houses the Jerwood Foundation's permanent collection of paintings plus the media-friendly temporary exhibitions, that the light and the context of the space almost overshadows its contents.
