AF1 hosts the “taster” for SE Open Studios (where artists in the South East open their studios to visitors on the first two weekends of  June). see http://www.seos-art.org/ . In AF2 you can find artists, not participating in the official SEOS programme but who welcome visits by arrangement and at other times of the year.

Project Art Workshop (PAW) in AF1 and AF2, 12 – 26 May. This promises to be a really interesting show. PAW has mentored six artists with special learning difficulties and complex needs over 18 months. The six artists are young adults who never thought of themselves as artists, but  have constantly surprised themselves under the careful mentoring of Tony Colley. PAW is producing a catalogue of the exhibition.  As an example of the care and detail of the mentoring, PAW has built a scale model of  both AF1 and 2 with scale models of the exhibits in their planned location s on the walls.

Elli Angel posts  I am dealing with a very ugly plan to Concrete the Convent opposite where I live in Magdalen Road.

We have a small group called M.A.R.A and we have been encouraged by STAG to get all the support we can to stop this, so I am asking for help in any way The Arts Forum might be able to offer to highlight the terrible plans.

We are a Conservation Area and they want to put hundreds of houses and flats on a playing field that had been promised to the small school at the top of the site.

The info on all the plans and the planning department contact address and e mail site for complaints are included in this e mail and are pretty thorough, and we have a dead line of 14th May, so if this is something The Forum could help with, I hope to hear from you soon.

See the plans at http://www.hastings.gov.uk/planning/view_applications.aspx
