!!! Calling all artists !!!    Jack in the Green

The Jack-in-the-Green show goes up Wednesday, 28 April  until 5 May in both galleries. This popular show gets better every year. Please start thinking about suitable entries – Jack-in-the-Green has particular meaning for Sussex, and it ties in with the May Day holiday week-end,  the procession on the bank holiday Monday and , of course, all those thousands of motorbikes which descend on Hastings.

St Leonards Film Society

The St Leonards Film Society has a programme of screenings. See below.

Showing Now….

 “Flux” in AF2, 17 – 30 Mar. Private View: Friday 19th March 2010 6:00pm.

Eight Sussex artists covering a range of media. Exhibiting are Jeremy Bear, Sassy Luke, Wendy Oxlade, Harry Snook, Serena Thirkell, Kim Thrower, Steve Whiting and Andy Young.( Regretfully, Anna Gartsunova was unable to participate as advertised. )

Marika Moore in AF1, 17 -30 Mar.  “The World and I” – Marika’s view of life, particularly featuring British Columbia.

Marika, born into a Russian refugee family in post WW2 Germany (among the first intake of students at the Pestalozzi Centre, Seddlescombe), returns from Canada to Sussex to exhibit. She has a fascination with colour and form, right from the time she painted her doll at eight years old. She is versatile, but comments that people recognise her work by her colours. Marika has exhibited and sold widely in the USA (particularly Hawaii) and Canada.

Coming up…

John Hacker in AF1 – pm.31 March –am.7 April

Paul Castle in AF2 – pm 31 March –am.7 April.

“My work portrays deeply felt feelings and emotions.  From these senses and understanding arise the dramatic power of the mark.   I am able to capture an image that is spontaneous with immense direction and movement.  Therefore I would like to feel I have created honest pieces of work.”
