A group of ( mainly) Forum members met recently and agreed a proposal to the Forum that the website include a calendar of events of general cultural interest. A copy of the proposal is on the website under “News” – Click on  http://www.hastingsartsforum.co.uk/category/news/ This proposal will be discussed at committee this coming Tuesday, 2 March.

The webmaster, Nick Weekes, welcomes the proposal but warns that it will require extra volunteer effort to organise, maintain and moderate. Our present volunteer resources are stretched  and we will need a volunteer to undertake the role of moderator.  Any members who want to express  an opinion on this proposal, or who wish to help should email us at info@hastingsartsforum.co.uk , preferably before next Tuesday’s committee meeting.

The Poetry Group

The Poetry Group is planning to rotate its leadership among participants every three months. Wendy Oxlade will continue until March 2010 and will be replaced by Michael Short who will lead from April til June. Tony Frost (the quirky poet) will take over in July for three months.

A critic’s comments. The poetry group has a steady attendance in double figures, seemingly dependent on weather. The poetry is mainly original work, but ‘favourite’ poems by other writers are read out and warmly welcomed. The group is progressive, and has included efforts to integrate poems and music. An early meeting related poems to the art displayed in the gallery (by artist and poet John Davies).
