Valerie Falla
About me
I started my training at the Sheffield College of Art. Then having won a
scholarship from Punch magazine I moved on to the Royal College of Art, London, studying illustration under Edward Bawden and John Nash.
My ideas are usually based on a light-hearted view of the seaside around Hastings, using several different media, mainly collage, monoprinting, found objects and gouache with ink.
The work often stems from half-recollected memories of childhood, with undercurrents of humour and satire, creating a fantasy world with its own dynamic and visual presence.
