About me

I try to make sense of the world through my art which happens to be painting, which I believe to be the purest form of expression.
The magic of the two-dimensional image that transcends its own reality for me is magic, and to use base elements to conjure up something of beauty is alchemy.
My work is driven by my expression and not by the process, hence technique may vary from painting to painting, but to fully express yourself you have to master your technique.
I have an healthy indifference to my use of representation and abstraction. I try to bring different painterly devices or histories to serve the idea and content of each individual painting. I consistently raid art history whether it be the pin-up or the inherited re-quoting of Karlo or Spencer. These serve towards a new personal proposition and image in the work. This proposition is to do with my own subjectivity and meanderings through the world whether it is through a graveyard or through cinematic history.
I see my work in the future becoming more carefully positioned and constructed without becoming hollow and losing my own sense of musing, choice and subjectivity.
I believe I still have a lot more to say about the world as I see it from the studio.
