About me

I began quilting in the 1990s. Since then I have broadened my range to include felting and abstract work involving food packaging and other textiles. After living in Tunbridge Wells for 20 years, I moved to Rye in 2002. I am a past member of Textile Studio in West Wickham, Kent, and a founding member of Fibretex 7, a Tunbridge Wells based textile group whose members come from different artistic backgrounds, working in separate by sympathetic media.

Although initially a quilter, I have found that Hanging Together has given me the freedom to explore my interest in working in alternative mediums. My quilts are designed as wall hangings and follow an architectural theme, relying on colour and bold naivety. The designs do not depict specific places, but are emotive, imaginative works which attempt to capture the essence of the subject.

My technique includes appliqué, layering and machine quilting and, in my early quilts, slashing through the quilt lines. My aim is to intensify all the elements of place, dimension and atmosphere.
