John Lipsham
About me
At 16 he was a dockyard worker as were his forefathers - however - subsequently he served 30 years as a Brighton policeman. His knowledge of art secured him a position on the Art and Antique squad for over 10 years, enabling him unique access to all manner of artworld experiences from art forgers to Christies backrooms. On retirement he gained a place at Brighton University for his BA in painting from 2002 to 2005. At the degree show he was awarded 'The Alan Davie Prize'. He has exhibited in Brighton, Hastings and London [solo, group and shared exhibitions] - the most recent being an acceptance at The Mall Galleries [Oct 09] in the Royal Society of Marine Artists exhibition.
