About me
These are examples of 'Digital Art' created by my programs. The personal computer, using sophisticated applications as tools enables the creation and manipulation of images but does not, of itself, create 'Art'. The time may come when computer programs can create representational art but for now humans and cameras can do better. Abstract art is another matter and there are types of abstract art which are suited to creation by computer program. System Art, as practiced by Bridget Riley, Vassarely, Balla, Mary Martin etc. is accepted by the art establishment, the media and the public and yet can be produced on a PC by programs which emulate the activities of such artists. (Some of whom, it must be said, may disagree with my categorisation of their work). What is more, the computer takes seconds to complete tasks which take weeks for humans and can explore many directions with little effort, enabling only the most satisfying results to be retained. In order to use computer technology at the appropriate level the artist must also be a programmer and sufficiently numerate to translate his/her ideas into computer terms. There are only three elements involved in this work, NO metaphysics, NO snake oil, only me, the computer and the programs wot I wrote. The possibilities are endless!
