About me

I moved to St Leonards in 2006, just as the Forum was opening its two galleries. I became a volunteer, joined the hanging group and became general ‘dogsbody’. I was elected chairman in January 2009 and again, nine months later in October.

I do not have an ‘art’ background, but spent fifteen years as an antiques dealer in Kensington, where I specialised in design for the industrial age, 1851 – 1914. My hero is Christopher Dresser(1834-1904), the ‘father’ of design for household objects and I have written a book on him. I have been involved as consultant in several exhibitions of Dresser’s work at national and international level – most recently in Prague and Herford, Germany.

Before my time in antiques I had a career in the British Army. I take a lot of pleasure in working in the Forum.
