Charles Willson Stone Carving and masonry
Welcome to Charles Willson's website. A sculptor accepting commissions for stone art and general stone masonry, heraldry repair and design worldwide. The gallery shows a portfolio of work that has been undertaken, please feel free to browse through and view some past projects and commissioned artwork. A specialist in stone, other projects have explored media, such as plaster, fibreglass, steel and clay.
Charles Willson Qualified as a stonemason at Weymouth College and worked for several reputable companies before returning to full-time study at London Art School, where Charles completed a diploma in Stone Carving. Continuing his studies with a HND in Fine Art Sculpture at Stafford College, which allowed Charles to add an exploration of modern styles to the knowledge of traditional styles which had been previously developed.
Some of his influences are - Traditional Ornament, Greek Mythology and African art, as well as artists such as August Rodan, Henri Matisse, Lyn Chadwick, Pablo Picasso, Naum Gabo and William Blake. He has also been influenced by world class tutors and mentors. Charles Willson's approach is reflected in this statement " Wherever possible, I aim to make the work uplifting and with a positive message."
