Alison Hawkins
About me
I am a member of curatorial staff at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery and a lecturer in Art and Design, specialising in Textiles at Sussex Coast College Hastings.
I combine contemporary and traditional techniques and materials in my textile work. These include traditional indigo dying, felt and paper making, hand embroidery, bead embroidery and beadweaving techniques, along side machine embroidery, chemical dyes and reclaimed plastics and metals.
My designs are influenced by my interest in archaeological and ethnographic artefacts, geological formations, fossils and the natural world.
