The music of the Hang Drum wowed us last night in AF2. Lee Buchanan played some beautiful Kora but also brought along this unusual percussion instrument. The Hang is a recent hybrid that was invented early this century in Switzerland. More info at Wikipedia.

I have always enjoyed painting from my early childhood and want a career in this. My work is mainly based around movement and reflection. I like the idea of abstracting the landscape using colour and imagination, and breaking it down to a point that reveals a time and place. I want the viewer to have an idea of where and what the image is, but at the same time to encourage him to see or visualise more of the detail than what I present. (more…)
“Common Ground”
Janet Harding and Simon Spare have worked independently for over 10 years, each producing strong work in their own right. Inevitably, with time spent together, there is a degree of cross-fertilisation or “common ground” in their painting.

At long last the new members’ gallery is up and running. Please visit the Members Gallery page and check it out. All feedback and suggestions are welcome. The design is still a bit rough around the edges as we’re using the supplied templates but this will change. Don’t let that put you off though, get in touch and launch your new profile today!
There will be a private view in both AF1 and AF2 this Friday, 16 October.
Quadripple, a group exhibiting textiles in AF2, wish to announce that live music will be provided by Lee Buchanan playing the Kora*
* A kora is an African instrument built from a large calabash cut in half and covered with cow skin to make a resonator, and has a notched bridge like a lute or guitar.
